RECRUITMENT FEE SURVEY
INTRODUCTION
In many migration corridors around the world, nearly all migrant workers pay recruitment fees and related costs to obtain an employment. The prevention of such payments, that frequently result in workers falling into debt bondage at high risk of forced labour, remains one of the biggest challenges to ethical recruitment globally. These payments have been internationally defined by the ILO definition of recruitment fees and related costs (referred to as ‘Recruitment Fees and Costs’) In this definition, recruitment fees and related costs refer to,
“.....any fees or costs incurred in the recruitment process in order for workers to secure employment or placement, regardless of the position, or location''
